How to play Idle Crawler

Idle Crawler is a free idle dungeon crawler RPG that runs in your browser. You build a hero, the hero fights on its own, and you decide how all that experience is spent. Here is everything a new crawler needs in five minutes.

1. Create your hero

Choose one of 37 races and one of 5 classes — Warrior, Rogue, Mage, Priest or Paladin. The race gives permanent bonuses that grow with its own level; the class gives your abilities and the resource they run on. Nothing is paywalled: every race, class, subclass and specialization is free. The full roster is listed on the races and classes page.

2. Enter the dungeon

Dungeon levels scale forever. Your hero clears room after room automatically, using abilities when the resource allows it, drinking potions when low, and moving on as soon as a room is cleared. You can watch the live combat log or simply leave the tab — the fight resolves either way. Push to a deeper dungeon level for better rewards, or stay where you clear rooms quickly and safely.

3. Spend one XP pool on three tracks

This is the core decision of the game. All experience lands in one pool, and you invest it in:

Costs rise as each track grows, so a wide hero and a deep specialist feel completely different to play.

4. Gear up with loot

Monsters drop weapons, armour and jewellery in several rarities. Compare an item to what you have equipped, equip it, salvage what you don't need into shards, and spend those shards on enchanting your favourite pieces. Rare Celestial items come from the deepest levels and from chests you earn in-game.

5. Farm while you are away

Idle Farm is the idle half of the game. Send your hero off for up to 10 hours; the whole run is calculated when you start it, and the XP, gold and loot wait for you until you collect them. Come back, read the report, collect and keep building.

6. Party up and climb the leaderboard

Join a party to share experience with other crawlers, with a tank holding aggro while the rest do their work. The global leaderboard ranks heroes by progress, so there is always another crawler just ahead of you.

7. Rebirth when progress slows

Rebirth refunds your invested experience so you can rebuild a stronger hero, keeping your gold, gear, potions and cosmetics. A small share of XP is lost by default, and you can spend gold in-game to reduce that penalty permanently.
